Safety is Priority #1

Safety is at the core of every New Leaf Energy project. All BESS facilities must meet strict state and national safety codes before receiving approval to operate. 

Each system is remotely monitored, has built-in fire protection features, has a site-specific Emergency Response Plan (ERP), and is regularly inspected and maintained.

About the Project

The project is located on the back acreage of parcels between Fisherdick Road and Belchertown Road. It will consist of a 39-acre solar array surrounded by a woven wire agricultural-style fence, and accessed via an existing commercial-use gravel driveway off of Belchertown Road. Electrical equipment and battery enclosures will be centrally located within the facility. The facility will be connected to the electrical distribution grid on Fisherdick Road—providing enough renewable energy to power 2,000 homes.

New Leaf Energy takes into consideration a number of factors when selecting a site, including environmental and public impacts. This site is ideal because the array footprint will be entirely hidden from view due to significant existing vegetative buffer. Additionally, the site is not within a wellhead Zone I or II, and it is outside the watershed for the Quabbin Reservoir.
