New Leaf has developed more solar in Massachusetts than any other developer since entering the market in 2007.

We manage site discovery, permitting, grid interconnection, engineering, and design. Our landowners host projects on their property, and receive annual lease payments from us.
We are building a diverse portfolio of solar and energy storage projects to align with the renewable energy goals of the Commonwealth. Our Policy team is devoted to advocating for well-sited projects that support our communities and landowners while deploying clean energy.

We have been a leader in the Massachusetts development marketplace for over 15 years. Our success spans multiple state programs from the days of SREC to today. Newly revamped in 2025, the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target Program (SMART) is the State's current solar incentive program.

Groundmount Solar

Groundmount is our standard solar design, with panels installed directly on the ground. These systems are ideal for land with proximity to power lines, strong sun exposure, minimal slope, and limited wetland areas. We've successfully developed groundmount projects on parcels ranging from individually owned 10+ acre sites to 100+ acre properties held by major landowners.

In addition to typical groundmount solar, we are actively building a portfolio of alternative project types in Massachusetts.

Canopy Solar

Canopies are elevated at least 10 feet off the ground to allow for a dual use to continue underneath the system. Existing uses may include irrigation canals for agricultural purposes, cranberry bog roads, equipment storage, parking, livestock stables, and more.
